And then take a breath!

Two plays, two musicals, and a variety show — quite an inaugural season!  But we are nothing if not ambitious.  Take a look at our first season's offerings:  With Burned, playwright Rachael Brogan Flanery invites us to examine the fragility of our humanity when we are faced with impossible decisions.  In Spring of Freedom, Summer of Fear we follow the journey of a young boy who is caught up in a revolution that pits neighbor against neighbor.

We plan to have some fun this year, as well.  Our Holiday-themed Variety Show, Spiked!, will be a delightful seasonal romp, chock-full of sketch comedy, original songs, and improv.  And we will close out our season with two new musicals:  Love After Hours (book and lyrics by Jim Robinson; music by Dennis Curley) and Vampires! Horror! (book and lyrics by Beau Hays; music by Dennis Curley).

So come spend a little time with Table Salt this year.  Read all about our upcoming productions below; then sign up to be on our e-mail list.  We'll see you at the theater!

An AppleBurned by Rachael Brogan Flanery

Both funny and disturbing, this new play follows the characters Hannah and John, two office co-workers who survive "the big one."  John was once just Hannah's office crush, but now she is injured and completely dependent on his goodwill.

Their partnership fails to grow in this new world of ash, and Hannah eventually leaves — in her words, "to die with a nicer group of people."  Hannah not only finds a nicer group of people, she becomes their leader.  This cozy community is threatened when John limps back into the picture.

Directed by Sean Byrd, and featuring:

Leigha Horton  as  Hannah
Andrew D. Umphrey  as  John
Madison Olimb  as  Dolly
Rachael Brogan Flanery  as  Boo
Hannah Campbell  as  Kitty

Rachael Brogan Flanery's plays have been produced in Aspen, Iowa City, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and New York.  Notable works include:  Nest (Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference Finalist; Princess Grace Award Semi-Finalist; Reverie Theater Next Generation Playwright’s Contest Semi-Finalist; Stage Spirit Award), At the Bottom of Sterling Lake (Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference Semi-Finalist; NYC Summer Play Festival Third Round Selection), One Ring Too Many (George Burns and Gracie Allen Comedy Fellowship), and Trilogy, a Play in Two Parts.

An AppleSpring of Freedom, Summer of Fear by Ali G. Ravi

The haunting tale of a terrifying night at the onset of the Iranian Revolution, told from three unique perspectives.

Ali G. Ravi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1967.  He spent his first 16 years there, fulfilling his fortune-cookie premonition of ‘living in interesting times’ by having his semi-blissful childhood intertwined with revolution and war.  He arrived in the U.S. in 1983 and spent the rest of the 80s being schooled in academic matters and on the basketball court.  He endured the serfdom of the American corporate world in the early 90s and the pseudo-proletariat of the Swedish one in the late 90s.

Sometime early this millennium, he returned to the U.S. to rejoin the futile resistance against assimilation.  He currently dabbles in technology matters for international humanitarian efforts, as well as writing occasionally humane haiku.
