Psych 101: U of M LearningLife Short Course

A special educational edition of this Table Salt classic!

Thursday, June 8, 2017 — 7 pm
Course fee:  $55

Kick off summer with a psychological splash as LearningLife dives deep into the science of the mind with an educational performance like no other!

The plot:  Everyone knows that the future of education is online.  Refusing to accept this notion, one professor makes a valiant (and uproarious) effort to stem the rising tide by teaching an entire semester of Psych 101 in just 90 minutes.  From Freud, Harlow, and Milgram to Piaget, Jung, and Skinner — from the neural impulse and operant conditioning to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs — it’s educational entertainment at its mind-blowing best!

And yes, there will be a test — in fact, two:  a midterm and a final exam.  But don’t let that stir your unconscious fears.  Move away from that computer and come boost your conative function.  It’s time for some classical conditioning!  (Ding! Ding!)

Recommended text: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Kidding!)

Script and lyrics by Jim Robinson; music by Dennis Curley.  Directed by Joshua Will.  Cast includes:  Michelle Cassioppi, Dennis Curley, Rachael Flanery, Jim Robinson, and Joshua Will.

We have some exciting things brewing on all burners for 2017!  First up, we will be holding a fundraiser for local non-profit Great River Greening, featuring the music and poetry of Leonard Cohen!  Then, Table Salt's annual storytelling show in May.  After that, keep your eyes open for a new sketch comedy show from the minds of Jim Robinson and Joshua Will, our partner from The Recovery Party.  Should be an exciting year — watch this space!

Some comments from Twin Cities reviewers:

The hilarious and touching vignettes span a whole range of experiences ... [there's] something for everyone in this delightful collection of songs and stories!

Brad Richason Examiner.com

I applaud this new company
for producing local,
new work!

Janet Preus HowWasTheShow.com

The nonstop volley of improvisational riffing [produces] enough manic energy and irreverent humor to keep even the most reluctant of minds buzzing with laughter.

Brad Richason City Pages

If you're a fan of John Denver, "Country Roads" is a must-see.... These are faithful interpretations of the songs we know and love, which Dennis sings beautifully!
